Halloween Party at Health South
This service involvement was so fun. As a club, we put on a Halloween haunted house for the patients at Health South, in SLC. This was a pretty involved project, but with everyone doing their part, it turned out fantastic. Our group planned and put together a room that was scary clowns. We had the music, fog machine and silly string as they walked in and it turned out perfect. Including all of the planning and shopping, this took about 8 hours.
This activity was well worth the effort. The kids and families there at Health South had a great time and enjoyed the room that we decorated. I learned to appreciated how important it is to see your clients as people, not just as the illness that they have. It was a hard time of year to do this, as it was the night before midterms, but everything worked out and its good to forget about yourself and to focus on others. We had a great time.

Service Learning: Decorating Boxes for the Utah Food Bank
Brook Olpin OTA Student
As the SOTA Club, we decided to set up a display at school to get people to help decorated boxes for the Utah Food Bank. We got 150 boxes, and over a 2 hour period, we had students come by and help color on boxes to help brighten the day of those who are recipients of food here in Utah. We finished all of them, and had a good time!
